Design Team Throwdown challenge # 9

The challenge theme "Metal Mania" was picked by the winners of challenge 8 Delicious Doodles, big congrats to them, but now it's time for revenge, LOL (no it's just a lot of fun to play).

First the boring stuff, DA RULEZ!!!! yep I know, you want to see projects but go a head and read this anyway, there is some important stuff you need to know.

The Design Team Throwdown challenge is organized by Smeared and Smudged forum, and it was moved to a blog last challenge, you can find it here.

The challenge  is only for Design teams (DUH!!!! it's in the name hey??) you can join the challenge in a team of three people and each person has to make one project for the challenge. After the challenge is closed the voting starts.

Before you vote it would be nice if you don't just look at all the awesome eye candy but also leave some bloggie love. It's much appreciated by all teams playing, cause they have had sleepless nights to create some brillant stuff to show you.
More details can be found on the Throwdown blog.

Now it's time to meet the Airless Chaimbers team for this challenge,  Rick, Julia and me (Mo).

We had fun creating the metal mania projects and here are some pics, you can visit our blogs for more pics and details, we'd love to see you there.

Enjoy and please don't forget to vote for the team with the best projects.

I've made a card for my wife on our 4 years wedding anniversery.
She said before we thought about marriage, that she wanted a
Mortia (The Addams Family) dress and wanted to be weed
in Count Draculas castle in Transylviana.

Non of these things happened, but I made her this card
cause I thought it would suit her.

Katie - the Pin-Up Witch

Hi folks
Just thought I'd pop along here and show you one of the latest little vixens that have emerged from the pen of Rick St Dennis. She's called Katie, the Pin-Up Witch. I also wanted to share a little tip that some of you might not have thought about when it comes to sentiments.
First though, the star of the show as I have her on the card I made.

Isn't she a darling?

My tip for the day....
How many of you have collected word art or even produced some yourself to add as a sentiment on your cards? How many of you feel you have to print these out on normal card before cutting them out? Then comes the task of decorating as required. Why not use your scraps of patterned paper?
Simply print out your chosen wording on cheap printer paper

then attach a piece of your patterned paper, cut to size over the words and put through the printer again. Hey presto.... your word art is now printed onto that tiny scrap. All you have to do is detach from the printer paper and attach to your project. That is exactly how I transferred the sentiments you see above on my card.

Thanks for looking

Zombies...Not Just for Halloween Anymore and GDT at LOC.

Hello, blogland!
This is Lady Brayton bringing you some weekend inspiration.
Now that the temperatures are starting to drop and darkness comes earlier in the day, it is a sure sign that autumn is coming.  I don't know about you, but when I think of Autumn I think of Halloween.
My favorite Halloween creatures are Zombies.  I am obsessed with Zombies!

Today I'm also here to demonstrate that Zombie images need not be
reserved for Halloween alone.
I use Zombies all year...even in my Birthday and Holiday cards :)

Below is my newest creation using Rick St. Dennis'
Zombie Newly Deads digital stamp.  I made a wedding card for my nephew, Phil, and his beautiful wife, Emily :)

*** Rick is Sponsoring the Left of Centre challenge blog and I was lucky enough, along with Monique, to be a Guest Designer for challenge #14.

The LOC challenge theme is No Designer Papers, but if that's not how you roll you can just keep it to the LOC rules.

Below is my contribution.  Click images to enlarge.

Front of Card.

Inside of Card.

The Zombie Newly Deads.

The Newly Deads were colored with Copic markers and the background was made with various shades of Distress inks, mounted on white card and mounted again on shimmery black card.

The inside of the card was typed in PSE8 and reads

True Love Never Dies.
Wishing you a lifetime and beyond of staggering through the world together.
Congratulations on your Wedding Day!

I mounted the sentiment onto the black shimmery card and mounted again onto some plain red card.  Don't hide your Halloween images away, letting them out only during September and October.  Play with them year round and see what kind of clever projects you can make :)

~ Lady Brayton ~

Be sure to head over to the Sparkle and Glitter Blog as well as Rick's blog to see what has been going on over there.  Rick has some fabulous information and some awesome tips and examples on his page.

I've been bad and hogged the blog for today.  I wanted to share with you Monique's make for the LOC challenge.  Be sure to check out her blog for details on her make.
She used awesome DecoArt products in the making of her tag :)
Monique's tag rocks!  Don't you agree?

Have a Fabulous Weekend!

halloween tags

Hi all,

Mo here with some tags for Halloween,

I used I Brake for Stamps Halloween rubber stamps for these, ofcourse with Rick's images on them. The tags are cut out of cardboard and gesso-ed first. Painted with a layer of Deco Art americana light buttermilk paint and then stamped the images using Archival jet Black.

Coloured them using coloured pencils and then blended the clours using odourless white spirit.

stamped the background with the spider webs and the bats and painted the rest of the tag using Deco Art glamour dust glitter paint in Neon green and Neon orange

The images used are VannaVampire and Be our ghost

September Saturday Freebie Time

Hi all, welcome to the freebie post for September.

If you've got a subscription to Rick's newsletter you already received the September freebie images. This month the freebies are 2 school kids, Buddy and Bad Bitsy.
Remember Bitsy at the Beach, she had so much fun on her Holiday but now schools have started again.
Buddy doesn't mind he probably spent his vacation preparing for school and studying.
Bitsy has other ideas of fun obviously.

Question is, who is she sticking her tongue out to? Buddy, or her teacher....

The Freebie challenges will start again in October.
There will be no more freebies available on the blogs because of the unkind people that share them on Pinterest.
It was a hard decision to make but digi theft has become a major concern for many artists, not just Rick.
If you want to continue benefiting from Rick's generosity, the subscription to the emailed Newsletter is a necessity. And why not it's free,  to sign up go to Rick's blog you will find all info here

The EDT has made some samples for you, Buddy is on the Sparkle and Glitter blog and Bitsy feels more at home at Airless Chambers.
Check out all the gorgeous coloured Buddies on SNG and the  Bitsies below, and maybe visit the EDT members blogs, they would love to have you visiting.

See you for the challenges again in October and meanwhile please share your projects using the freebies or other Rick St. Dennis images on the RSD Facebook group here,   we always love to see what you create using Rick's images

Enjoy the samples:

Franken Light

As soon as I saw the gruesome face of the MONSTER digital image in Rick's Etsy Store I knew I had to put him somewhere in my Halloween decor.
But not before I received a lesson on Franky from a friend who is up on all things monsterish. The monster is not Frankenstein  - the scientist who created him is Frankenstein.

Victor (the scientist) is obsessed with studying outdated theories of science that focus on achieving natural wonders.
At university, he excels at chemistry and other sciences, and develops a secret technique to imbue inanimate bodies with life. Victor constructs a reanimated creature we call Frankenstein but is actually referred to as "creature", "fiend", "demon" and "thing" in Mary Shelley's 1818 novel, Frankenstein.

Thus the reason our digital image is called Monster and not Frankenstein. I did not know this. Did you?? I guess Hollywierd put its own slant on the story and we ended up with a name mix up.

Mary Shelley, a woman wrote Frankenstein, the precursor to so much of the horror gender. I'd have loved a peek inside her mind. My kinda gal!

So to honor Frankenstein and his Monster I've "shed some light" on that legendarily creepy face with an illuminated lamp project.

If you would like to make this lamp I've put together a PDF for your convenience just click on the pic for download and printing. It will print out much better than it looks on Google Drive. Have fun!!
